Time Wasted

As a kid I honestly hated reading for fun. I would always find something else to do whether it'd be taking a nap, going outside, or playing video games. I guess you could say I was a natural reader meaning I could read a chapter in a book at a good pace with few or even no mistakes at all. I think I got that from reading dialogue in video games like Pokémon.

My younger sister Cyprille is a lot like me when I was her age. She still is. Cyprille is occupied by her iPad and other things around her. The only thing that doesn't occupy her is reading. I want to be able to change that. I honestly don't want her to waste her time doing irrelevant things like I did. I believe that if she starts reading more often, she'd be doing a lot better at school. So that's what this project is about. Getting my little sister to turn what was time wasted into time spent well.

The book Cyprille is reading is called "The Classic Treasury Of Hans Christian Andersen". This book is a collection of fairytale stories. Cyprille already likes this book as she has already finished two fairytale stories. She says " I like "Thumbelina" because there are pretty pictures".

  1. Your project makes me very happy. There are all sorts of studies that point out that reading with a child helps them love the experience.

  3. Nice vestie nice! I love your blog, not just because you're my best friend but they way you started it out. I enjoyed the little anecdote in the beginning about you not enjoying reading, then connecting it with your sister, I simply thought that was amazing you lazy pants! Hmm, reading? Pretty curious and excited to see how this ends up. Because reading every night can actually so many wonders especially to a kid like Cyprille. But clarification please, will she be reading this same book every night? Or will the collection last for two months?

Nice blog so far, keep it up and keep us updated. Really stoked to see how this ends up!(:

  4. First of all, I love your title. Second, I love that you are trying to help your sister become a better reader to help her with school. Besides not breathing for a few sentences, does she stutter or squint her eyes? what other details are there of her while she reads?
